All Hallows' Eve

For as long as I can remember I have loved Halloween. As a little girl I remember my mom and dad dressing my sister and I up to take us out trick-or-treating. I loved the idea of being able to transform into something completely different for one night. If it was a gypsy, sailor, skunk, batman, pirate or princess I was always able to take on the personality of that character.
Being a creative person at heart is why I think Halloween resonates so much with me. Everything about it is out of the ordinary and creative. From carving pumpkins, to decorating your home to look like the nearby grave yard, or transforming yourself into a zombie from Walking Dead it all requires you to look outside the box and become a little imaginative.

Even though I have always loved Halloween I really discover a love for it the first time I went to Mexico. I loved how the dark and ominous feeling was replaced by beautifully coloured sugar skulls, bundles upon bundles of flowers and an overall joyous feeling. The Day of the Dead showed me a totally different perspective and gave me a different outlook on how death should be celebrated.

As a teenager I was all about having the prettiest costume, but as I have gotten older I have started to branch away from that. I would rather be a rotting zombie than a fairy because I can look pretty every other day of the year so why not try and look a little creepy!

What do you plan on being for Halloween?

Happy Haunting!
