Finding Happiness

As of lately, I have hit a cross roads about what I would like to do with my life. My temporary job is ending soon and I need to find something else, but figuring out what that is a little harder than I had initially though.

Recently I was reading a blog online, Oh She Glows, and came across one of her posts where she talks about how she graduated with a Undergrad and went on to get her Masters but all along the way something didn’t feel  right. Like I have said in previous posts, I think all things happen for a reason and maybe I was meant to stumble onto her blog and read this article about careers when I am in the middle of trying to figure out where I want to go with my life.
On her blog she posted this quote which really stuck with me:

"The work you do while you procrastinate is probably the work you should be doing for the rest of your life." -Jessica Hische
It definitely made me think about what things make me happy when I have nothing else to think about. What types of things do I like to do when I am bored and have nothing else to do?

I have always been a very creative person. As a child I had a wild imagination and would make up elaborate stories while playing. As I grew older my imagination turned to paper and I started to excel at drawing. To my parents this was probably extremely surprising as they were told on numerous occasions that my drawing was unique to say the least. Regardless, the older I got the more I was drawn to the subject. I loved how techniques allowed you to bring more texture, depth, and light into a drawing. How mixing certain colours brought life to a piece of work.
As I got older school, work and jobs got in the way of drawing and since then I haven’t drawn much at all but it has revealed that I have a love for makeup. Makeup at its core is everything that I had fallen in love with as a child. It is like paint, charcoal, pastels, it is another medium used to create.

I love how with certain products you can totally transform a face to look completely different as if to morph yourself to look like someone else, or you can use it to enhance your best features while hiding things that may be a trouble area for you.
I know makeup may not be something I can committee to full time or something that will be a realistic job in the future. But I am starting to think that something that has more of a creative outlet might be something for me. I love the knowledge I gained from going to University and obtaining my Bachelor of Commerce, but for someone like me that environment sometimes feels quiet suffocating.

I am starting to learn that no matter what you need to pursue things that make you happy. Life is short so why waste it doing something you do not love.

Till next time,

Lxo
