Up Up and Away!

Steven and I hiking outside of Phoenix last year

I cannot believe how long it has been since I posted something on here. I guess I wasn’t as on top of things as I thought I was in my last post. I guess life sometimes gets in the way of things we tell ourselves we are going to do. Anyways enough about that, I thought I would come on here because Steven and I are going to Phoenix, Arizona at the end of the week and I think I am going to do a few posts about what we are up too while we are there.

Last year around this time of the year we went down to Phoenix to visit my parents and fell in love with the place. We were determined that we were somehow going to move there so we could golf and sit around our pool whenever we wanted too. Needless to say that this didn’t happen, but we are really looking forward to it. We are so sick of the cold weather and ready for a change of scenery.
We recently bought a GoPro so are hoping to record a few videos while we are there!
Hope all of you are as excited about spring as I am! Let me know if you have plans to get away for the last few months of winter!

Goodbye 2014!

Well hello again! It has been quite some time since I have last posted on here but I thought with the New Year this would be a fresh start to posting more frequently. These past two months have seemed like a gigantic whirlwind but I was able to end the year spent with all of my favorite people celebrating an amazing time of the year!

2014 was an amazing year. It was filled with amazing people, amazing memories and amazing experiences. There are so many things about 2014 that I would love to relive over and over again. This year seemed to be consumed with family. Steven and I were able to spend so much quality time with the people who mean the most to us. We went to Phoenix for a week with my family in March for some relaxation and sunshine, which is much needed if you happen to live in Saskatchewan like me. In July, we head to Minneapolis with Steven’s family for a weekend of Baseball watching one of Steven’s favorite players, Derek Jeter (who our dog happens to be name after). As well as celebrating the birth of Steven’s nephew Vaughn. I am so grateful to be surrounded by the people I have in my life and have the opportunity to experience the things I have so far.
2014 you have been great, but I cannot wait to see what 2015 has in store for me. If it is anything lie this past year I know it will be filled with all sorts of amazing!!!
Hello 2015!

All Hallows' Eve

For as long as I can remember I have loved Halloween. As a little girl I remember my mom and dad dressing my sister and I up to take us out trick-or-treating. I loved the idea of being able to transform into something completely different for one night. If it was a gypsy, sailor, skunk, batman, pirate or princess I was always able to take on the personality of that character.
Being a creative person at heart is why I think Halloween resonates so much with me. Everything about it is out of the ordinary and creative. From carving pumpkins, to decorating your home to look like the nearby grave yard, or transforming yourself into a zombie from Walking Dead it all requires you to look outside the box and become a little imaginative.

Even though I have always loved Halloween I really discover a love for it the first time I went to Mexico. I loved how the dark and ominous feeling was replaced by beautifully coloured sugar skulls, bundles upon bundles of flowers and an overall joyous feeling. The Day of the Dead showed me a totally different perspective and gave me a different outlook on how death should be celebrated.

As a teenager I was all about having the prettiest costume, but as I have gotten older I have started to branch away from that. I would rather be a rotting zombie than a fairy because I can look pretty every other day of the year so why not try and look a little creepy!

What do you plan on being for Halloween?

Happy Haunting!

Night to Myself

Tonight I was lucky enough to have a few hours to myself as Steven and both our dad’s headed into town to watch a Junior Hockey game. In Saskatoon I lived by myself for a few years and now that I live with Steven I do not get as much time to myself so I really try to enjoy it when I do.

I was also able to spend a couple hours with my mom. It is nice to get together with her every now and then and catch up on how each other are doing. Even though we live a few blocks from each other we sometimes have a hard time making time for a good chat.

One thing that I find really relaxing is doing my nails. I have never been a girl for going to get my nails done as I quite enjoy doing it myself. It allows me to take an hour or so to just relax. I usually end up catching up on You Tube videos or watching a movie.

It was nice to have a few hours to just catch up on me and have a little alone time to pamper myself.

How do you like to pamper yourself?

Hope you all had a fantastic night,
