Sorry for the
lack of posts over the past few weeks. As anyone from Canada knows there isn’t much
of a summer so you try to enjoy as much of it as you can and that is exactly what
I have been doing. Work, golfing, boating and the occasional trip has kept my
family and I very busy.
At the beginning
of the month Steven, his side of the family and I made a quick trip to
Minneapolis to watch a couple MLB ball games, which was very fun to say the least.
I managed to find a very reasonably priced hotel, the Hilton, which was right
in the downtown area of Minneapolis. If you ever go I recommend staying here.
The location was extremely convenient, the rooms were nice and well-kept and
the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We went
to two ball games, the Mall of America, were able to celebrate the Fourth of
July (Fireworks and all), ate some great food (Zelo’s and Burch, were my
favorite), and enjoyed the downtown night life.
We have also
had the chance to go to a couple Rider games so far this year. If you aren’t
from Saskatchewan or Canada you might not know who the Saskatchewan Roughriders
are but ask anyone from here and you will be stuck in an hour long conversation
about how the Riders are the best team in the Canadian Football League and how
their fans can be described as more of a cult than a fan base. All in all, we
really enjoy going to the games and had the privilege of going to the 2013 Grey
Cup (Canadian Football’s Super Bowl), which the Riders won by a landslide. Otherwise, I have found myself on the golf course, which I never envisioned myself liking. As a kid my parents would drag my sister and I to the golf course and were so persistent that we learn how to golf. As my dad would put it “if you don’t learn how to golf you won’t have any friends when you’re older because they will all be out golfing”. This quote and persistent nagging has turned me into an alright golfer and I now actually enjoy going.
I will try to post a few blogs here and there when I find in between every thing that I have going on. Hope you are enjoying the summer as much as I am!
Till next time,
Lxo
